When a 1000 people protest against Putin in Russia, it is front page story in the Times. This one is buried in passing and hasn't been covered by any US newpspaper

A rally last month drew as many as 100,000 people, the largest anti-base demonstration on the island since a similar-size one that followed the rape of an Okinawan schoolgirl by three American servicemen in 1995."
