"The Jordanian tribe of al-Obeidat organizes this weekend a mass festival to
support Palestinian people and al-Aqsa Mosque, with the participation of
hundreds of political and national figures, in the largest village of the tribe
in the north of the Jordanian kingdom. Al-Obeidat tribe, which is the biggest and most
influential tribe in northern Jordan with huge influence on the political
balance, will hold the popular and political event in its districts in support
of al-Aqsa Mosque. The purpose behind this event is to show the support
of the Jordanian people and the northern tribes for the Palestinian people and
the Arab identity of al-Aqsa Mosque against the Israeli schemes. This event will be take place in the village of Kafr
Som, which is the largest of the seven villages of al-Obeidat tribe in northern
the kingdom. Among the prominent figures who will deliver speeches
in this mass meeting, are the opposition figure Leith Shbilat and member of the
Jordanian parliament Khalil Atteya, in addition to the former Prime Minister and
head of the National Front for Reform, Ahmad Obeidat. Sources close to Obeidat told "Al Quds Al Arabi"
newspaper that the aim of the march is to emphasize on the stance of the tribe
which opposes normalizing relations, in any form, with the Israelis. This event appeared to come in response to the
decision of the Jordanian government insisting on the appointment of the young
diplomat, Walid Obeidat, as an ambassador to "Tel Aviv"."
