palace buffoons

I don't know why I remembered yesterday the expression that Gibbon in his history of the Roman Empire used: his reference to "palace buffoons".  I think that we should bring back to use this useful expression.  We can think of those examples of such buffoons in every royal or republican court.  Sa`ib `Urayqat for example would be designated as the chief palace buffoon in the PA Israeli court.
