The name is still used in homs and other parts of syria for a dessert made
of sweetened almond paste and was in the form of diamonds (losange) but is now
cut in rectangles. Hamasneh pronounce it loooziiinaaa لوزينا and they swallow
the "j"
when I was a kid i always thought this a name invented by syrian pastry
shops to build up on lawz but make it more western sounding, but no, it's much
older..
