There are several books that I need to write about but don't have time. One of them is Jeff Himmelman's Yours in Truth about legendary Washington Post's executive editor, Ben Bradlee. I recommend the book to journalism students and to people interested in American politics. It shows the true unpleasant face of John Kennedy--one of the worst US presidents and certainly the most manipulative of his image. It also exposes the true nature of the relationship between the publisher and the editor of a major newspaper. Bradlee's letters to Kay Graham should be studied in journalism schools: they are more fawning than the letters by any editor of Ash-Sharq Al-Awsat (mouthpiece of Prince Salman and his sons) to Prince Salman and his sons. The book also undermine the image of the Post as this great professional newspaper. Even the Watergate story: it was based less on great investigative work and more on leaks that fell into the lap of reporters.
