The US and violent protests

Wait. I must be confused by the news coverage and the rhetoric of Hillary and Barry about "the mobs" in Arab countries.  So the US is opposed to violent protests?  Or is the US opposed to violent protests when directed against the US or against US clients in the region?  Unless the US was opposed to violent protests against Qadhdhafi or against violent protests in Syria?
