The US and freedom of the speech in the Arab world

Basim (number two, not to be confused with Basim who sent me the cartoon below, and who is a childhood friend) sent me this:  "The opportunism of the Muslim Brotherhood aside, and the rogue, backward nature of the Salafists aside ... who is the U.S. to lecture Egypt or any other Arab country on free speech? When they have for decades supported and kept entrenched the dictators, despots and tyrants who have done nothing but spend their days trampling on free speech and the dignity of their people?"
