Hizbullah has been noticeably quiet about the protests against the notorious film. Iraqi Shi`ites have been very vocal while Hizbullah has remained quiet. Yet, Hizbullah announced yesterday that it is organizing a march against the film in Beirut. I think that they were afraid of being accused by Saudi sectarian media of not loving the Prophet enough.
PS Ahmad sent me this: "
Dear Prof. Abukhalil: I take issue with your post. Hezbollah has criticized and condemned the film. Here is an article from Wednesday, the day after all this chaos started: Hezbollah said the film was an "immoral act which represents the highest degree of aggression against the highest human right ... for respect of beliefs and sanctities". The film aimed to stir tensions and hatred between Muslims and Copts in Egypt and reflected "the true position of the American-Zionist alliance towards Islam and Muslims", it said. "In this context, the statements of official U.S. condemnation no longer fool anyone," Hezbollah said, referring to official U.S. criticism of the film."
Your criticism that they are somehow scared of Al-Saud is absolutely ridiculous. Come on.
I meant that they are quiet in their condemnation.
