Al-Wifaq: it should get out of the way

The struggle of the Bahraini people is being betrayed by Al-Wifaq.  This sectarian organization allows itself to be used by the House of Khalifah despite the crackdown that is going on.  It has never taken a categorical stance against the Bahrain regime and has not followed the public mood of the Bahraini population against the monarchy itself.   Al-Wifaq is preventing the opposition moevement to develop in a way as to call for the complete overthrow of the House of Khalifah.  Al-Wifaq is the best opposition group that the House of Khalifah can dream to have, and I won't be surprised that there is penetration by House of Khalifah into Wifaq.  Some opposition movements throughout the Arab world have been co-opted by tyrannical regimes before.  The struggle of the people against the regimes is being betrayed by groups and individuals who speak on behalf of the people while reaching under-the-table deals with the royal families.  This applies to the group of Shi`ite clerics in Saudi Arabia (As-Saffar and company) who recently signed a statement that most likely was written for them by the Saudi Ministry of Interior.  This won't be the first time that a sectarian Shi`ite opposition group has been bought off by Saudi royal family: it happened back in 1993.
