UAE in the Syrian crisis

UAE, unlike Qatar and Saudi Arabia, plays a big role in implementing US/Israeli orders in the Middle East. But sons of Zayid are quiet and secretive: they don't own pan-Arab media and they don't want to attract attention to themselves.  But they are very influential in what is happening in Syria. They are--I am told--providing lifetime residence to any high ranking defector from the Syrian army.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been been dispensed to those officers.
