Arab former leftists

I am sick and tired of this: I am sick and tired of Arab former leftists (especially when they speak to Western audiences) claim--in a way to apologize for their past leftist sins--that they joined this communist group or that nationalist group to "fight for democracy".  That is a blatant lie.  When I was a Marxist-Leninist I wanted the dictatorship of the proletariat and not some form of parliamentary democracy, and Arab communists and progressives despised bourgeois democracy.  If you just want to impress the White Man try another schtick please.
