The knowledge of activists

"One opposition activist said that only the women and children of the Assad family had flown to the coast — not unusual for a hot July weekend." Wait.  That is cool.  So if one becomes an activist one becomes knowledgeable about the whereabouts of the ruling family?  Say I become an activist in the US, I would be able to tell when the Barry Obama family goes to Camp David?  So if I ask an activist in Saudi Arabia, he/she would be able to tell me where the wives of King `Abdullah are at any point?  That is amazing.  I was an activist in my youth in Lebanon, but I never had such skills and powers.
