Kidding aside on Syria

Kidding aside: is there anyone who really believes the line that Syrian Muslim Brothers, Salafis and Jihadis in Syria were pacifists for the first three months of the Syrian uprising but that the brutality of the regime pushed them toward violence? I mean, this is a line fed to foreign reporters and spectators, but to us?  I mean, kidding aside, please.
