casualties in Syria and the New York Times

"a particularly bloody day in Syria, as more than 100 people were killed, by one estimate, most of them civilians caught in shelling."  Look at the sentence. It says that civilians were caught in shelling but it does not mention whether any of them were killed by the armed opposition groups.  In fact, you won't find any reference to one civilian killed by the armed opposition groups in the Western media.  Also, in the paper edition of the Times, it cites two different estimate of casualties for the day: one at 100 and the other at 81, so the on-line edition settled on "more than" 100. So who is counting anyway?  And no number ever gives a breakdown as to who was killed by regime and who by UnFree Syrian Army gangs.
