It is indubitable that the American occupation of Afghanistan (and Iraq) has been far more brutal and savage than the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. I am willing to bet my farm (of books) on that.
PS For the record, I was at the time in support of the Soviet occupation. I think that time has proven me right. Between the Taliban and Al-Qa`idah kooks, and the Afghan communists I would choose the Afghan communists any day.
