A (foreign-made) coup in Damascus? Operation Ajax style?

A friend/comrade who does not want to be cited sent me his opinion on what happened in Damascus last week:  "It is very clear that last week's big Cities offensive was a carefully coordinated event, timed to coincide with the assassination/decapitation of the regime leadership and given coverage by media war rooms in the different surrounding countries. The gambit, I believe, has failed in its primary objective. Deriding Al-Arabia for its shoddy coverage misses the point. During the offensive, it was (and remains) part of the Psy-OP involved in bringing down the regime. It is supposed to exaggerate...What can I say as an armchair observer? I do not think I am alone in positing that the Damascus offensive was carefully coordinated by foreign intelligence agencies as a coup. As'ad, it is inconceivable that the decapitation event went uncoordinated with the attack on Damascus and with ongoing PsyOP coverage by major news organizations such as Al-jazeera and Al-Arabia. It is exceedingly likely that both were part of the same stratagem to end the regime in one swoop. The decapitation attempt can be thought of as the equivalent of the Shock and Awe opening salvos of the American invasion of Iraq. The regime recovered too quickly for them.
