US and Russia and the Middle East

Basim sent me this:
"There is no difference between U.S. support for the criminal Israeli state and Russian support for the criminal Assad regime - whether by arms, U.N vetoes or PR campaigns on behalf of a "misunderstood" client.  There is a difference, however, in the nature of the resistance each power opposes: in the former, it is a non-sectarian, indigenous, expelled population seeking to re-claim stolen land. In the latter, the opposition has been usurped by a GCC-supported proxy army of sectarian ideologues and imported mercenaries who mirror the very police state they seek to depose.  In addition, the GCC never (for an second) considered arming Palestinians against the occupying entity as they now scream for the world to do with the FSA. This alone should sound alarm bell's of the SNC and FSA's real agenda."
