Propaganda about Syria

"Sheik Shadi Jebara, a Salafi leader from the city’s restive Sunni-majority Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood, said he knew of 50 to 70 men who had gone to Syria. Salafis represent a puritanical movement within Sunni Islam.  “There are religious groups going and others who are not religious at all — perhaps they drink and take drugs,” he said. “But they are incensed by what they see happening in Syria. All of them are prepared to go and die.”"  These are is such a desperate attempt by various groups engaged in propaganda on behalf of the Syrian regime to prove that those who are fighting are not all religious or Salafis, so you frequently hear this refrain: that there are those who take drugs or drink.  So we are to believe that this Salafi Shaykh is aware of people who take drugs and who drink and he is not judgmental about them and is not sending his goons to kill them? The movie does not cohere: they need a new script.
