New York Times' standards

There is an article about Palestinian prisoners in the New York Times and suddenly Kershner adds this out of the blue: "Islamic Jihad is notorious for the suicide bombings it carried out last decade in Israeli cities, and more recently for firing rockets from Gaza into southern Israel."  Can you imagine a New York Times reporter writing an article about an Israeli prisoner in Palestinian custody and then adding out of the blue:  "Israel is notorious for its massive bombings and massacres and it has carried them out in Arab cities, villages and towns in the last century and this one". Can you imagine?
