The Methods of Anne Barnard

In a long article on Syrian rebels, Anne Barnard cites only one expert:  "Jeffrey White, a defense analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy..."  Imagine an article on the ANC during apartheid that cites only a white apartheid expert on ANC.  Imagine.  Would a New York Times reporter ever dares to cite an Arab nationalist group in an article dealing with domestic developments inside Israel?
