This is one of the worst reporting on Syria that I have read--and I have read daily lousy reporting on Syria. Read this: there is absolutely nothing new or insightful. It is an anthology of impressions (of Youtube videos) and of views and mockery and humor by Syrian National Council sources. But this says it all: "Videos posted online from Deraa, where the uprising started in March 2011, and in Aleppo’s old marketplace, showed empty streets and all shops closed in a protest against the elections. State television carried a report that it said was from Deraa, showing people voting." So the videos of the opposition are certainly from Deraa while those by the regime are allegedly from Deraa. A starting professional reporter would know to apply skepticism to both sides and not invoke propaganda interests in the article as MacFarquhar.
