DFLP: the art of political opportunism

I receive the weekly issues of Al-Hurriyyah (the mouthpiece of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine) from Damascus (with postage stamps showing Bashshar, of course).  There is not a single word about developments in Syria.  Nayif Hawatimah is the epitome of Arab political opportunism, very much like Khalid Misha`al.  Both are silent waiting for the situation to be resolved one way or another to finally take a stand.  Neither wants to commit on this side or that side lest they lose.  Hawatimah turned his organization into an arm of the Mukhabarat of `Umar Sulayman during the Mubarak regime, and when Mubarak fell he started to speak on behalf of Egypt's "revolution".
