Mike Wallace

I never met the man.  He played a role in promoting a sensational brand of ambush journalism, which went after smaller crooks.  Such courage was not directed against tobacco companies or the US government, for example.  Yet, he was less politically cowardly in covering Palestine.  Some may not have noticed that but he tried to bring in Palestinian point of view.  In his memoirs, he explains: that he had the average American Zionist perspective until he met Palestinian scholar, Fayez Sayegh, who he had as a guest on his New York show.  He reports that Sayegh left a strong impression on him and that it changed his views on Arab-Israeli question and Sayegh became a good friend of Wallace.  Thought I would mention that to you.
