Russia versus the US in the Middle East

"Now Russia is the great defender of the status quo."  Well, let us see. Russia supports the status quo in Syria, while the US supports the status quo in Morocco, Algeria, Egypt (under Mubarak), Tunisia (under Bin Ali), Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain.  Who is keeping score?
