How Janzuri refused to meet Al Gore in 1998

I have not heard or read one word in the Western press about the rising anti-American mood in Egypt following the flight of Americans accused of violating Egyptian laws on the work of NGOs.  The criticisms to the US is coming from all directions and also to the ruling military council which reached a deal under the table with the US.  The climate is such that the Egyptian prime minister bragged that he refused to meet with Al Gore in 1998, back when he was a stooge of Mubarak (he even said that Mubarak was mad at him).  Of course, you are not supposed to read that because you are supposed to believe Thomas Friedman that the Egyptian uprising has no foreign policy goals.  Another debate that is going on in Egypt is the various proposal to replace the US aid to that country--and not only the Islamists are weighing in.
