A former Jordanian member of parliament has been arrested because he merely called for a republican form of government. Such news that is damaging to the client King of Jordan does not make it in the Western press. (thanks Shihadeh)
PS My chief adviser on Jordanian affairs adds this on the person in question: "But Abbadi is the biggest advocate of ethnic cleansing in the country—he wants pretty much everyone except members of his tribe to be expelled, as all the rest are not native to Jordan in his opinion and this is one of the major reasons why he hates the Hashemites, as outsiders and less so as undemocratic."
