"One thing they should be doing is renouncing violence. It’s something they’ve renounced in principle – but they have to do it in practice. Violence has brought nothing but catastrophe to them." Really? What brought the PLO recognition in the first place? And do Israelis have to renounce violence as well, or is this a condition only for the Palestinians? But the statement by Rashid gets more confusing later as he said: " Thirdly they should understand that they have to operate within the framework of the international legal framework, which prohibits violence against civilians." So are you saying that they should forswear violence against civilians or against combatants as well? Not clear.
