Imperial messenger

I am reading Belen Fernandez's The Imperial Messenger.  I am delighted that this book is published but wonder why such a book was not published before.  It should be read and referenced as one reads the New York Times: not only the silly columns of Thomas Friedman.  I like that Belen relates Friedman's views on Palestine to his belief in imperial role by the US.  She chose and excellent picture of Friedman for the cover: the man strains to appear thoughtful and deep in his writings but as he fails miserably, he even feigns seriousness in his poses.
