This is a dumber explanation than the dumb plot

But they said the oddly brazen nature of the plot may also may have reflected the naivete of the clique of hard-line clerics that has come to dominate Iran’s leadership in recent years."  So the cave men of Al-Qa`idah knew their way around the US but the Quds Force could not find people with knowledge of the US when many people who work for the Iranian government are graduates of American universities?  We are told that Quds Force was behind the bombings in Argentina in the 1990s: so they knew their way around Argentina but not around the US?  So the Iranian government with its international network could not supply its operation with anyone except the guy who decided to fly to Mexico to recruit a drug dealer?  Who is writing this scenario?  Which dumb Middle East expert approved the release of this plot scenario to the public?  And which idiot thought that the clerics are the one who design and plan such violent operations?
