Regarding the assassination of late Mufti Ahmad Kaftaru's son (Zaher) in 1979... I was there at that year.. I was in grade 9....
To be fair and being close to his other son (Salah)... Zaher was not assassinated by Ikhwan... he was killed by villagers in Damascus' Countryside (namely Babbeela) for dispute over land ownership....... at that year Hafedh Assad came to offer condolences to the late Mufti and told him jokingly, after seeing crowds of people there, (In Arabic)
شو شيخ كفتارو شايف عاملي هون خميني
Then Sheikh Kaftarou quickly replied...
بس هون مافي شاه حتى اعمل خميني هون فيه حافظ الأسد
