Friday on AlJazeera

I wake up nervously every Friday, knowing that there will be a death toll in Syria (and in Yemen as well).  I turn on Aljazeera (by way of habit and for lack of alternatives), and there I am subjected to a farce.  A show of shows.  A most ridiculous caricature of news shows.  There is the studio and then unverified rehashing of what has appeared on "activists' websites", as they call it.  And then phone lines are open around the clock with people whose identity is not verified where they curse Bashshar Al-Asad and then insult `Alawites (after they preface their remarks by saying that they "have nothing against `Alawites"), and on and on.  It is now a news show.  It is a farce.  Syrian opposition should be careful in pinning hopes on the Qatari government.  I know the story of Saudi opposition: during the feud between the Saudi and Qatari dynasty, when the Qatari government extended a few thousand dollars to the Saudi opposition, and then dropped them once the two governments started flirting and dating.
