Yasin Al-Hafiz

This profile of the late Yasin Hafiz by Saqr Abu Fakhr published in Assafir should be read.  This has been an influential thinker of the contemporary Arab East.  His influence has been big among contemporary intellectuals.  His "theoretical starting points" was incorporated into the Ba`th program in 1963.  He mixed Ba`thism with Marxism and Nasserism.  His collected works are published by the Center for Arab Unity Studies.  He was most interesting.  After 1967, he seriously considered suicide.  It was more than he could handle.  He died before reaching 50.
