Charles Percey dead

Read this long obituary about Charles Percy in the New York Times.  Not one word about the biggest controversy of his career: that he was critical of Israel and worked against bills favoring Israel in Congress.  He was critical of US foreign policy in the Middle East.  Not one word about that in the Times.  Don't get me wrong.  I am not a fan of Percy.  I met him a few times in DC after his retirement.  He struck me as one of those US politicians who were anti-Israel but either from a business standpoint (business with Arab gulf potentates, that is) or from an anti-Semitic point of view, or both.  I am not passing judgement about Percy but I know that when Rafiq Hariri wanted to buy influence in DC, he first hired Percy to be his consultant in the city.
