Comrade Saleem sent me this: "Dear Comrade As'ad,
This is my first time commenting on your blog, but I am a regular reader of
it . As an Iraqi Marxist, it make me sad to say that those who
call themselves secularists or liberals in Iraq are not any better than
Saudi-sponsored liberals. In your blog of today, you posted that U.S backed
-Iraqi regime supports the Syrian regime. Well that's might be true considering
the influence of sectarianism on the regional politics that also explain why the
Saudi media support the the protests in Syria. My problem is the source of information which you quoted for the news. This
website which speaks of 'Iranian occupation' of Iraq more than S.Occupation, is
a another voice for the so-called liberal platforms that did appeal to the
Americans and blame them for 'empowering' Iran, not for invading Iraq. They
always talk about Iran not America, exactly like how did Saudi media behave. If
you look at the articles they republished, you will find such familiar names as...all of them write in Saudi
newspapers and talk for the Saudi interests. It is important to notice that not
all those who criticize Iraqi government are ant-American."
