Saudi King is still alive

We would not have known that the Saudi King is still alive if the statement that was issued in his name yesterday was not issued.  The US government is clearly running out of options towards Syria so it requested a diplomatic intervention from the GCC.   It was clearly done in order to provide an Arab cover for the next move by US.  Saudi Arabia's government, of course, bankrolled the Syrian government for decades and handsomely compensated several of the foreign policy ventures of the Syrian regime: like the military intervention in Lebanon in 1976 or the Syrian support for the America invasion of Iraq in 1991, etc. It is funny, of course.  Syrian regime had supported Saudi invasion of Bahrain in the hope of obtaining Saudi and Bahraini support for its own repression.  I saw footage of a demonstration in Saudi Arabia against the Syrian regime:  that was confusing.  The Mufti of Saudi Arabia has already ruled that demonstrations are bad for the country and the religion but exceptions can be made only to endorse whatever foreign policies by the regime.  Let me make this prediction: the cowardly Syrian government would not say one word against Saudi Arabia in this crisis.  Bashshar is very scared of Saudi Arabia for its skills in sectarian agitation as if the latter government is not already engaged in sectarian agitation.
