Sanctions on Syria: why Bashshar won't care

All this talk about sanctions on Syria won't make a difference.  Bashshar knows how to deflect international condemnations.  He can simply start a secret channel of direct negotiations with Israel, and then all Western governments would start praising the wisdom and strategic vision of Bashshar.  We have seen  this dance before when Sadat was the favored Egyptian dictator in Cairo, and when his repression of labor protests were widely admired in Western countries.
