The Islamic House of Orphans in Lebanon has this ritual: they put the "orphans" in specially designed cars, trucks, buses, and vans and they tour the streets of Beirut asking people for donations. I once was sitting in Bread Republic cafe in Hamra when I saw the loud convoy. I was furious especially when you see the sad faces of the children. This was a convoy prepared for the month of Ramadan. Can someone speak out against this cruel ritual? If they parade the children like this, I can imagine how they are treated inside the wall of the institution. (As-Safir)
