From Pakistan

Jawad from Pakistan sent me this:  "Dear Angry Arab, Thank you for posting the anti Saudi editorial from
Pakistan's Daily times. It is starting to happen in tiny measures.   It is beyond silly to argue that there is too much criticism of Saudi Arabia in Pakistani press. If someone were to argue that there is too
much criticism of Israel in the NYT, we would conclude that this person is a zionist or pro-Israel. It is funny that the please-dont-criticize-the-Saudis-too-much correspondent bristles at being called pro-Saudi. On a related note, there is plenty of anti-Arab racism in Pakistani society. Stereotypes of the Saudi
royalty are often used to smear all 300 million Arabs. I found this editorial did the same thing, and I wrote them the following nastygram:
Sir: It is refreshing to see Pakistani press starting to address Saudi Arabia's corrosive impact on Pakistan's culture and politics (Editorial, Daily Times, August 10, 2011). Bravo for having the courage. I was disappointed to see you complain about "Arab influence" and the "Arabaisation" of Pakistan. This borders on racism by conflating the odious monarchs with the 300 million Arabs in general. There are many Arabs, in places like Cairo and Tunis, that could teach Pakistanis important lessons in tolerance and enlightenment."
