Husam `Itani
I don't agree with the politics of columnist, Husam `Itani, but he is a careful and thorough writer. I have not finished reading his interesting new book The Arab Conquests in the Narratives of the Conquered (Arabic) but one thing got my attention. He says: "the stance of [Edward] Said who includes the work of all Orientalists in the zone of service to Western colonialist projects." (pp. 299-300). Husam is too intelligent to caricature Said's position like that. I mean, if he said "some or most Orientalists" it would have been fine. But all Orientalists? Come on.
