Bashshar Al-Asad

Bashshar Al-Asad is in a way worse than his father: he has a deep desire to please and impress US and Israel, even when they attack him or rebuke him, and even when Israel bombs freely deep into Syrian territory.  He fights back against his own people but does not fight back--ever--against Israeli provocations and attacks.  But this is typical of Arab potentates: they are tough vis-a-vis their own peoples, and cowardly and meek vis-a-vis Israel.
