Bahrain update
"I tried finding out about the article for you - no one really knows or actually seems to care. Cousin told me to move on. Anyone from Waad that I contacted never responded. But just so that you know, Muneera Fakhro and the other Waad members attending the dialogue haven't tweeted anything contradictory to Muneera Fakhro's last statement which is that an elected parliament would elect the prime minister. All of this doesn't matter however because no one cares about what anyone is saying in the dialogue. Also, I think I mentioned to you before, but there is a smaller secular group called Tamajou' which boycotted the dialogue. Their secretary general keeps speaking at the february 14 youth events so it seems like they are gaining popularity with that group. Today Al Wefaq had a rally in one of the villages. It was well attended. Sh. Ali Salman spoke - reiterated Al Wefaqs position - elected parliament with full legislative powers and elected PM. Obviously lots of dissapointed people since Al Wefaq didn't announce a withdrawal from the dialogue. Waad specified that PM will be elected by parliament (probably so that they can explain their lousy previous statement) but it seems that AlWefaq will go for either - elected PM by the people or by the parliament. The February 14 Youth Movement rally is starting soon. Seems like people will attend both. Small protests and shootings continue in the villages. Pro-regime are obsessed with yesterdays latest drama. Irish Delegation was in Bahrain to call for release of imprisoned doctors. They weren't too happy with the delegation so apparently they disrupted their press conference and then there was a little fight between Reem Khalifa (the Bahraini journalist who bravely addressed all the Gulf Foreign Ministers). They claim she slapped one of the pro-regime doctors. She said she didn't but took pro-regime doctor's phone when she refused to stop filming her using the phone. So now they are calling for her to be arrested."
