The conference in London on "The Arab Spring"


The Arab Spring and the Counter Revolution

We in Gulf Issues Centre for Strategic Studies and Gulf Cultural Club like to invite you to a one-day conference to discuss the dangers facing the Arab revolutions, the forces working behind the scene to stall them and the implications for the process of reform, change and democracy in the Middle East.
The Conference will be divided in two sessions:
Morning session, this will start at 9:30 -13:00. The panel speakers will be as follows:
-Dr. Kamal Helbaw –Egypt
- Dr. Ali Nu’man –Yemen
- Dr. Juma’ al-Qumati –Libya
-Dr. Zuhair Salem –Syria
-Munjiya Al-Obaidi,  Nahdah Movement, Tunisia
-Dr. Said Shehabi -Bahrain
Lunch Break 13:00 -2:00
Afternoon Session:
Several prominent academics and activists will address various aspect of the Arab Spring,
Among the speakers are:
-Professor As’ad Abu Khalil, California State University, Stanislaus and visiting professor at University of California, Berkeley
- Professor Charles Tripp, SOAS, London
Dr Franklin Lamb, Director of Americans Concerned for Middle East Peace, Beirut-Washington DC, Board Member of The Sabra Shatila Foundation, volunteer with the Palestine Civil Rights Campaign, Lebanon
-Dr. Ali Qabani, academic and expert in Egyptian revolution
-Dr. Salah al-Bandar, a former adviser for the Bahraini government.
