Syrian army and Israel

Regarding the New York Times story today that Syria manipulated the protests at the border.  I say: to the contrary.  The protests embarrassed the regime and army: they exposed their impotence and weakness. This is an army that kills its own people but can't defend the border from Israeli aggression and occupation.
