There is a very somber (almost sorrowful) tone to Saudi media's coverage of Bin Laden's death. Al-Arabiyyah (the news station of King Fahd's brother-in-law) hosted a discussion about Bin Laden, and the Saudi experts all weighed in with the same view: that there are two section within the Al-Qa`idah: the Saudi faction and the Egyptian faction. They want you to believe that the Saudi faction was all nice and peaceful and that the terrorism came from the Egyptian faction. And Saudi media (and the account by `Abdul-Bari `Atwan) never ceases to elaborate on the "politeness" and "soft-spokenness" of Bin Laden: but Goebbels' children loved uncle Hitler who always gave them candy. A Saudi cleric, Salman Al-`Awdah, says that the killing of Bin Laden shows US weakness and called for mercy and forgiveness for him.
