New York Times' obituary of Bin Laden

I don't have time to respond at length to this obituary of Bin Laden: it is an anthology of errors, mistakes, and misconceptions about Islam and about the Middle East.  It talks about the notion of "chosen one" in Islam, when the notion stopped with Muhammad.  It is extremely ignorant and talks about Bin Laden as if he was a prophet in Islam, not knowing that Muhammad is considered the seal of all prophets for Muslims.   This is what happens when you assign somebody from the New York desk to do a story about the Middle East.  And then the Zionist impulse of the paper comes in: "Within Al Qaeda, he argued that the organization should put aside its differences with Shiite terrorist groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon, the better to concentrate on the common enemy: the United States."  This was clearly inserted by some Israeli intelligence sources to link the two organizations in the mind of Western readers.  Like many other elements of this article, this is inaccurate as Al-Qa`idah railed against Hizbullah on many occasions.
