Maybe Anthony Shadid can rely on this source (who seems to impress the Guardian)

"Leading Syrian dissident Ammar Abdulhamid is in no doubt that Syria deliberately allowed people to cross the border at the Golan Heights to provoke Israel into the kind violent action it took."  So evidence for the New York Times theory about Syrian control of the border protests comes from 1) unnamed "analysts" cited by Ethran Bronner; 2) a Syrian in Washington, DC who was told about buses; 3) this guy Abdulhamid in Maryland.  OK. Thanks for teaching us about Western journalistic standards.  (thanks Yazan)

PS Do you notice how Washington, DC-based Syrian "dissidents" are so eager to gratify Israeli propaganda at every corner?  Very noticeable.
