US military and Arab and Muslim protesters

The Iranian foreign ministry's spokeperson today made a point that is often made by Arabs/Muslims: the US is no position to preach to Arabs about respect for peaceful protests and demonstrations.  (Of course, the hypocritical Iranian propagandist should have also noticed that his own government is hypocritical as it too has shot at peaceful protesters).  But it has been widely observed by Arabs: US forces have dealt with peaceful Iraqi and Afghan protesters with deadly force.  It has acted just like Arab governments, and in some cases with more brutality.  So here too the US is in position to preach or sermonize.
