Intellectuals

When intellectuals are shown reading on writing on TV, they always appear like government bureaucrats in that they sit at a desk and read or write, before the cameras.  I mean, I never read or write sitting at a desk, never.  I read or write lying down: stretched on a couch or bed.  Is that only me?  Am I too informal in my personal life?
