French colonial behavior

France is now acting like a colonial power, and the New York Times praises that and calls it "muscular foreign policy."  Many US policy makers are jealous and calling on Obama to emulate French actions.  I mean, this is amazing: French special forces "arrest" Gbagbo in the Ivory Coast?  Who assigned it that role, although UN Security Council would give the cover for any colonial behavior for any of its Western members.
