Bashshar Al-Asad seeks inspiration from European governments

Yesterday, Bashshar Al-Asad said that his government is still pursuing reform and that the government is open to learning from "European" experiences.  You know what he is talking about? He is talking about lifting the state of emergency and then imposing a Syrian Patriot Act to impose.  So basically, Syrian regime is open to taking the worst elements of the Western political experience.
